Akha Masoor Usal | Maharashtrain Masoor Usal Recipe.

                              Akha masoor usal is simple yet delicious curry recipe which is very famous in Maharashtra. This Indian curry dish has a large number of popularity in all over India. It is mainly made from masoor lentils, onions, tomatoes and many other Indian spices. It goes well with chapatti, Nan or any bread. You can serve it as a side dish when you have guests for dinner or meal.

Ingredients for Akha Masoor Usal:

½ Cup Soaked Whole Masoor.
2 tbsp Peanut Oil.
1 Big Finely Chopped Onion.
1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste.
1 Chopped Large Tomato.
2 tbsp Chopped Coriander Leaves.
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder.
1 tsp Coriander Powder.
½ tsp Cumin Powder.
½ tsp Garam Masala Powder.
1 tsp Goda Masala.
½ tsp Turmeric Powder.
Salt to Taste.
Few Coriander Leaves for Garnishing.

How to Make Akha Masoor Usal:

Step 1.

First of all heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, when oil gets heated add finely chopped onion, stir and saute it on a medium flame till the onions start to turn transparent.

Step 2.

Now add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw aroma of ginger garlic goes then add chopped tomatoes, saute till they soften and become pulpy.

Step 3.

Now add turmeric powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder, stir and mix well.

Step 4.

Now add chopped coriander leaves, soaked masoor dal and season with salt, stir well, cook the usal on a low flame with a lid for 5-6 minutes. (If you feel dal not soaked well add less water and cook till all the water evaporates).

Step 5.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve akkha masoor hot with some soft chapattis or jovar rotis or steamed rice and enjoy.
