Aloo Tikki Recipe | Potato Patties | Indian Street Food.

Aloo tikki is a very popular and famous Indian street food recipe which is exclusively available at street food shops and carts. It is oftenly cooked in Indian households, but there are many variations in ingredients used place to place. In north India side they people used to add peas, paneer or chana dal in stuffing and whereas in eastern side they some other spices and ingredients. This potato tikki is really very simple and easy to make plus requires very less time to cook is well. Here we have used boiled and peeled potatoes, frozen green peas and some other simple Indian spices to make this quick aloo tikki. Usually aloo ki tikki is served with tamarind chutney and green chutney which is prepared from raw mango and capsicum but you can also serve this with any other chutney of your choice. These tikkis are really very delicious and mouth clicking in taste plus healthy too.

Ingredients for Aloo Tikki:

10 Medium Size Boiled and Peeled Potatoes.
200 gm Frozen Green Peas.
½ tsp Coriander Powder.
½ tsp Fennel Powder.
½ tsp Amchoor.
½ tsp Garam Masala.
¼ tsp Red Chilli Powder.
¼ tsp Cumin Seeds.
1 Inch Grated Ginger.
1 Finely Chopped Green Chilli.
1 Pinch Asafoetida.
Salt as per taste.
1 tbsp Oil for stuffing.
Oil for frying tikkis.

How to Make Aloo Tikki:

Step 1.

First of all heat oil in a non stick pan then add in cumin seeds and wait till it starts crackling, now add in coriander powder, fennel powder, asafoetida, garam masala, red chilli powder, amchoor, ginger, green chillies and mix all the spices well.

Step 2.

Now add in green peas along with salt and mix well with all the spices then add about 1 tbsp water and cover and cook for little time.

Step 3.

Now mash the potatoes with hands or spoon well then add salt as per taste and mix well, now check the green peas mixture if it is cooked then turn the heat off and let it covered aside for few minutes.

Step 4.

Now put tawa on gas to heat, now grease hands with little bit of oil then take some mashed potatoes and make little thick small sizes of puris from entire potatoes.

Step 5.

Now take one puri then put some green peas stuffing on it then cover with another puri and make tikki with hands, make all the tikkis similarly.

Step 6.

Now put some oil on tawa and put tikkis for frying, turn the side after every minute so tikkis can be cooked nicely from all sides then take out the tikkis in a serving plate and serve with tamarind chutney and mango capsicum chutney.
