Bunny chow is a very famous South African dish which was originated from Durban by an Indian community. There people make this as a fast food recipe whereas in India it is popular as a street food recipe and available in popular Indian street food shops. Mainly it is prepared from onions, tomatoes, capsicum, fried soya chunks, boiled potatoes and some other spices. By all these ingredients a curry is prepared and stuffed in whole bread loaf.

This is really very delicious in taste as well as easy to make is well. Time required to make this easy bunny chow recipe is not much longer you can make in just under 30 minutes. History of this dish says that it was created by Indian caste (Banias) in Durban and it was well known as bread and curry. Now a day’s some of the people use make this using meat or lamb or chicken.

Ingredients for Bunny Chow:

Half Cut Whole Bread Loaf.
4 tbsp Finely Chopped Onion.
3 tbsp Finely Chopped Tomatoes.
3 tbsp Finely Chopped Capsicum.
4 tbsp Fried Soya Chunks.
4 tbsp Boiled Potatoes.
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste.
¼ tsp Turmeric Powder.
1 tsp Cumin Seeds.
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder.
¼ tsp Garam Masala.
Salt as per taste.
2 tbsp Oil.
Some Coriander Leaves for Garnishing.

How to Make Bunny Chow:

Step 1.

First all make a space at the centre of whole bread loaf with the help of knife, make square cut, keep the cut part aside we’ll use in further process.

Step 2.

Now heat oil in a nonstick pan then add in cumin seeds and wait till crackle, now add in chopped onions and cook till become light golden brown.

Step 3.

Now add in ginger garlic paste and saute for little time then add in tomatoes and cook it till become soft, now add in capsicum, turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala and saute all the spices for little time.

Step 4.

Now add in fried soya chunks, about half cup water and potatoes, now cover and cook for 5-7 minutes or till it releases oil at edges at medium flame.

Step 5.

After 7 minutes put this curry or gravy in the space made in bread loaf and garnish it with some coriander leaves and serve with salad.
