Daliya Khichdi Recipe | Healthy Daliya.

Daliya khichdi or dalia khichdi is a very healthy Indian main course recipe rich in proteins, vitamins and other nutrients. If you are worried about your increasing weight and want to reduce weight than this one is best to do so. Dalia is nothing but the broken wheat and well known by different names like samba rava, godhuma rava, dalia. During winter it is a very good option to make for dinner and lunch and it don’t require any side dish to have it with.

Mainly it is prepared from dalia, onion, tomato, carrot, capsicum and some other spices which is commonly available in grocery shops and markets. This is really very simple and easy to make plus requires very less time to cook is well. Khichdi is a light food dish and this quick daliya khichdi is definitely light so you can make it any time during the day in breakfast or lunch or dinner. Some of the people also add lentils to make this khichdi but we prepared it without lentils.

If you like then you can serve this with papad or pappadums and pickle of your choice. Consistency depends on you so add water as per your need and taste. Ingredients for Daliya Khichdi:

200 gm Daliya or Broken Wheat.
1 Finely Chopped Onion.
1 Finely Chopped Tomato.
1 Finely Chopped Carrot.
½ Finely Chopped Capsicum.
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Chilli Paste.
½ tsp Turmeric Powder.
1 tsp Garam Masala.
½ tsp Red Chilli Powder.
Salt according to taste.
1 tsp Mustard Seeds.
1 tbsp Coriander Leaves.
3 tbsp Oil.
Dry Red Chillies for Garnishing.
Tomato Flower for Garnishing.

How to Make Daliya Khichdi:

Step 1.

First of all heat oil in a nonstick kadai then add in mustard seeds and let it crackle, when mustard seeds starts crackling add in chopped onions and carrots, cook it till onions become golden brown and carrots get soft.

Step 2.

Now add in chopped capsicum and daliya or broken wheat and saute for about 1-2 minutes, after 2 minutes add in turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala and mix well with dalia.

Step 3.

Now add in chopped tomatoes and water as per required and lower the heat, cover and cook khichdi for about 12-15 minutes, stir in between so it don’t stuck to bottom.

Step 4.

Now take a round bowl or container first put coriander leaves then put daliya khichdi, now un-mould  it and garnish it with tomato flower, dry red chillies and serve hot.
