Makhane ki Kheer Recipe.

Makhane ki kheer is a unique, delicious kheer, I have ever tasted. Makhana, fox nut or phool makhana is lotus flower’s seeds which can be found in Korea, japan, India and Russia and known as gorgon nut at there. Its look like quit popcorn but at nutritional benefits, it is at top. Most of used in snacks and also used in different recipes of Indian cuisine.

It’s one of royal kheer family which is made from milk, sugar and lots of dry fruits. Usually, kheer is made from milk and rice, but this kheer is quite local, because it is made from the lotus seeds. This milk pudding is perfect for navratri, divali, hoil or any of Indian occasions.

You can add condensed milk, if you want creamy texture. It is suitable for navratri vrat, upvaas or fasts. It is quite quick preparation, so if you have to make perfect thali, it will be good option. It tastes well, whether it is served hot, cold or warm. Usually, we ignore this fox nut seeds in our daily life, but this kheer will be a good choice to add in our food menu. Ingredients for Makhane ki Kheer:

25 gm Makhane.
½ Litre Milk.
1 tsp Almond Powder.
50 gm Sugar.
5 Threads of Saffron.
¼ tsp Cardamom Powder.
½ tsp Desi Ghee or Pure Clarified Butter.

How to Make Makhane ki Kheer:

Step 1.

First of all wash the makhane in water and keep it aside, heat desi ghee in a big pan, put the makhane in pan and roast it little.

Step 2.

Now add milk stir it nicely then add saffron threads and almond powder, mix it nicely, when milk starts boiling lower the heat and cook it for further few minutes.

Step 3.

Now add sugar and cardamom powder mix it well and cook it for just 1-2 minutes then turn the heat off and serve the delicious makhane ki kheer and garnish it with few chopped almonds.
