Masala Idiyappam Recipe | South Indian.

Masala idiyappam is a traditional breakfast recipe of south Indians, it is the speciality of Kerala and originated from kerala cuisine. There are various kinds of idiyappam recipes available and are cooked oftenly in south Indian households. Mainly it is prepared from rice flour, onions, tomatoes and some spices. Cooking level of this healthy main course dish is easy and can be cook in few minutes. South Indian foods and dishes are really very healthy and exclusively available in entire India.

This quick masala idiyappam can prepared with homemade or ready made vermicelli which you can get easily from grocery shops. It is best to make for morning breakfast for all age groups. it is also known as spicy idiyappam or sevai idiyappam in India, there are lots of variations in cooking this yummy idiyappam but taste is really very delicious. along with this idli sambar, dosa, upma are also very popular in south India.

For making this first idiyappam or sevai is prepared then added in spices and cooked. Here you will get this recipe in very simple and easy method with step by step instructions so you can make it at your home without any difficulties and hustle. Ingredients for Masala Iddiyappam:

For Iddiyappam:

1 Cup Rice Flour.
Salt according to taste.
2 tsp Oil.

Other Ingredients:

1 Medium Size Thinly Chopped Onion.
50 gm Thinly Chopped Cabbage.
2 tbsp Fried Cashews and Groundnuts.
1 tsp Split Bengal Gram or Urad Dal.
6-7 Curry Leaves.
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Chilli Paste.
½ tsp Turmeric Powder.
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder.
1 tbsp Pulao Masala.
1 tsp Cumin Seeds.
1 tbsp Coriander Leaves.
Salt according to taste.
2 tsp Oil.

How to Make Masala Iddiyappam:

Step 1.

First of all put rice flour in a bowl then add in salt, oil and mix both well with flour, now add in water as per required and make nice dough from it.

Step 2.

Now give 10 minutes rest to dough, after 10 minutes take vermicelli mould, put vermicelli forged in it then add in dough.

Step 3.

Heat water in steamer then put greased plate in steamer, make vermicelli on plate, make sure that vermicelli should not be thick, cook the vermicelli for 10-12 minutes.
After 10-12 minutes take out vermicelli from steamer and let it cool then separate the vermicelli.

Step 4.

Now heat oil in nonstick pan, add in cumin seeds, when cumin seeds starts crackling add in onions and cabbage along with curry leaves and cook it for 3 minutes at medium low flame.

Step 5.

Now add in ginger garlic paste, green chillies and cook it for 1 minute, now add in turmeric powder, red chilli powder, pulao masala and mix all the ingredients well then add in salt.

Step 6.

Now add in steamed vermicelli and mix well with other spices, now add in tomatoes and cook it for 4-5 minutes stir in between.

Step 7.

Now add in fried groundnuts, cashews and mix well, now turn the heat off and garnish it with coriander leaves and serve.
