Moong dal vadi curry is a very unique summer special curry recipe which is very healthy and nutritious. This is one very delicious and special Indian curry which you can prepare for lunch or dinner. Making this vadi is a time taking because first of all you have to soak the yellow mung dal for 8 hours then coarsely grind and make vadi then put in sunlight for whole day. Ingredients for Moong Dal Curry:

For Dry Moong Dal Vadi:

250 gm Split Green Gram or Pili Moong Dal.
3-4 Pieces of 1 Inch Ginger.
5-6 Green Chillies.
1-2 tbsp Black Peppercorns.
Salt according to taste.

For Mung Dal Vadi Curry:

50 gm Dry Moong Dal Vadi.
1 tsp Cumin Seeds.
3-4 tbsp Finely Chopped Onions.
1 tbsp Garlic Paste.
2-3 Chopped Green Chillies.
1 Finely Chopped Tomato.
½ tsp Turmeric Powder.
½ tsp Red Chilli Powder.
1 tsp Coriander Powder.
½ tsp Garam Masala.
Salt according to taste.
2-3 tbsp Oil.

How to Make Dry Moong Dal Vadi:

Step 1.

Soak the moong dal for hours in water, after 8 hours take out dal from water and wash it trice in running water then grind it coarsely in mixer blender, take out dal mixture in a bowl and keep aside.

Step 2.

Now put ginger, green chillies, black peppercorns, cumin seeds in a mortar and using pestle make coarse powder of all the spices then put this spices powder in moong dal mixture along with salt and mix well.

Step 3.

Now make small size of vadis from entire mixture then put on a clean cloth, now put this vadis in sun light for 1 day, after 1 day dry moong dal vadi is ready to make curry.

How to Make Moong Dal Vadi Curry:

Step 1.

First of all heat oil in a kadai, when oil gets hot put dry vadi in it and fry till become light golden brown then take out in plate and keep aside, now in same oil put cumin seeds and wait till crackle.

Step 2.

Now add in onion and saute till become light brown then add in garlic paste and saute for little time, now add in green chillies and tomatoes, cook it till tomatoes become soft.

Step 3.

Now add in red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and cook all the spices for little time then add in water as per required, salt and fried dry vadis, cover and cook gravy till vadis become soft.

Step 4.

After few minutes check the gravy if vadis become soft then add in gram masala and mix well again cover and cook for 1 minute, after 1 minute turn the heat off and take out in a serving plate and serve with chapatti, roti, naan or rotla whichever you like.
