Hey guys, today here, is an another exclusive recipe of potato basket chaat. We all love chaats so much because of its sweet, spicy and tangy flavor. It is a yum Indian chaat that is so easy to make and quick as well. This amazing potato chaat is filled with potato, chutneys and some other ingredients. It is perfect Indian snack recipe which can be served as a starter to guest and at birth day parties.

                   It can be stored in air-tight container to make process more easy and quick. You can also enhance flavors with your favorite ingredients whether it is fruit or vegetable. Kids will goanna crazy for this tempting potato chaat. The little kick of honey will goanna surely softens your mouth.

                 This potato chaat is also known as aloo katori chaat and aloo tokri chaat.  There are lots of variations and differences of chaats. It is loved by all of Indian and mostly to be found at road side tracks from food carts in India. Ingredients for Potato Basket Chaat:

For Potato Basket:

3 Peeled and Grated Potatoes for 1 Basket.
Oil for Deep Frying.
Metal, tea or vegetable strainer for frying.

For Filling:

½ Cup Boondi.
½ Cup Boiled Chickpeas.
1 Chopped Tomato.
½ Cup Boiled White Peas.
1 Boiled and Chopped Potato.
¼ tsp Black Salt.
¼ tsp Salt.
4 tsp Honey.
4 tsp Lemon Juice.
2 tsp Green Chutney.
1 tsp tamarind chutney.
4 tsp Yogurt.
¼ tsp Red Chilli Powder.
2 Chopped Green Chillies.
Some Chopped Coriander Leaves for Garnishing.
Sev/Aloo Bhujiya for Garnishing.

How to Make Potato Basket Chaat:

Step 1.

First of all peel off the skin of potato and grate it like straw, soak the grated potato in water for 4-5 minutes.
Now drain and wash in running water for 2-3 minutes, drain and wipe dry using a cotton cloth.

Step 2.

Now place the grated potato on a 45 mm 2” diameter metal vegetable or tea strainer and top with a second strainer so potato straws won’t spread in oil. 

Step 3.

Hold tightly and deep fry the basket on a medium flame till basket is light golden in colour, now switch off the flame and remove the strainer from the oil and invert it and tap tightly to un mould the basket perfectly.

Step 4.

Now combine boiled potato and chickpeas in a medium bowl, soak boondi in hot water for 5 minutes and drain the excess water.
Now add soaked boondi and boiled matar or white peas in a bowl, add chopped tomato, coriander leaves, green chillies, red chilli powder, black salt, salt, 1 tsp tamarind chutney and 2 tsp yogurt.

Step 5.

Mix well, now the filling is ready, put 1 cup of filling in the basket, top with honey, lime juice, yogurt and green chutney, garnish with coriander leaves and sev and enjoy.
