Rava Idli Recipe | South Indian Breakfast.

Rava idli or Suji idli is a very famous breakfast recipe from a very popular and well known south Indian cuisine. This is really very delicious and irresistible in taste as well as healthy too. Mainly it is prepared from semolina or suji or rava, curd, some vegetables like carrot, capsicum, cabbage and some other spices. This fluffy and soft idlis are really very simple and easy to make plus requires very less time to cook is well.

This quick rava idli can be made instantly rather than waiting for few hours so you can make it for breakfast any day you want. As you all know south Indian cuisine is very famous for its idli and dosas and not just south India but these two dishes are very popular in entire India exclusively. All the required ingredients to make this healthy and delicious idli are very simple and commonly available in grocery shops and markets.

Usually idli is served with coconut chutney and sambar but if you serve this with onion-tomato-garlic chutney then your taste bud will change. Ingredients for Rava Idli:

1 Cup Semolina or Rava.
1 tbsp Finely Chopped Carrot.
1 tbsp Finely Chopped Cabbage.
1 tbsp Finely Chopped Capsicum.
1 tbsp Ginger Chilli Paste.
1 tbsp Sour Curd.
1 Pouch of Fruit Salt or Eno.
1 tsp Mustard Seeds.
1 tsp Split Black Gram.
6-7 Curry Leaves.
7-8 Fried Cashew Nuts.
7-8 Fried Peanuts.
Salt According to Taste.
1 tbsp Oil.

How to Make Rava Idli:

Step 1.

First of all put semolina in a bowl then add in sour curd and water as per required, cover and keep aside for 10 minutes.

Step 2.

After 10 minutes add in finely chopped carrots, cabbage, capsicum, salt, ginger chilli paste in batter and mix well.

Step 3.

Now heat oil a tadka pan, when oil gets heated add in mustard seeds and let it slather, now add in split black gram and curry leaves and add this tadka to batter and mix well.

Step 4.

Now grease idli mould with oil nicely, add fruit salt in batter and put batter in greased idli mould, now put fried cashew nuts and peanuts on top of it and put the mould in steamer.

Step 5.

Steam the idli for 8-10 minutes, after 8-10 minutes take out the mould from steamer and let it cook for few minutes.
When it gets cool un mould the rava idli from mould using a knife or spoon and serve the delicious idli with onion-tomato-garlic chutney and enjoy.
