Rice thepla is one of the very delicious and healthy gujarati flatbread recipe from gujarati cuisine. This main course recipe is mainly prepared from rice (you can use leftover rice also), millet flour, gram flour, jaggery, curd and some spices. We gujarati people like to have a bit of sweetness in our food so here we have use jaggery but you can avoid it. This chawal ka thepla is really very simple and easy to make one pot dinner meal that will make your bailey full.

In gujarati language this quick rice thepla is known as bhaat na thepla. For making this healthy and delicious gujarati flatbread recipe you don’t require much time as it can be cooked in just quick time. For rolling this theplas a bit unique technique is used that is a plastic sheet is used, in between two greased plastic sheets rice dough balls is put and rolled with a rolling pin with soft hands in nice round shape. You can make this leftover rice thepla for morning breakfast or lunch or dinner and have it with sweet or spicy pickle or a hot cup of tea.

Ingredients for Rice Thepla:

2 Cup Cooked Rice (you can use leftover rice also).
50 gm Millet Flour.
50 gm Gram Flour.
1 tbsp Jaggery (Optional).
1 tbsp Curd.
1 tbsp Achar Masala or Pickle Masala.
1 ½ tbsp Garlic Chilli Paste.
½ tsp Turmeric Powder.
1 tsp Ajwain.
1 tbsp Sesame Seeds.
Salt according to taste.
Oil as per required.

How to Make Rice Thepla:

Step 1.

First of all take a big mixing bowl then add in cooked rice, millet flour, gram flour, turmeric powder, salt, achar masala, jaggery, curd, sesame seeds, ajwain, garlic chilli paste and make nice dough from all the ingredients.

Step 2.

Now make small size of balls from entire dough, take a plastic sheet and grease it with oil then put a dough ball at centre of sheet, now take another sheet and grease it also with oil and put on dough ball.

Step 3.

Now with the help of rolling pin roll out the dough ball with soft hands to make round shape of thepla, make sure that thepla should be little thick, if you make thin thepla they it may break.

Step 4.

Now heat a griddle or tawa on gas, grease it with some oil then put one thepla on tawa, cook thepla both the sides well by putting oil on it, make all the theplas ready this way.
You can serve this healthy and delicious rice thepla with sweet pickle or tea and enjoy.
