Stuffed idli is a very famous breakfast recipe from a very popular and well known south Indian cuisine. This is really very delicious and irresistible in taste as well as healthy too. Mainly it is prepared from idli batter, boiled potatoes, onions and some other spices. This fluffy and soft idlis are really very simple and easy to make plus requires very less time to cook is well. This quick stuffed can be made instantly rather than waiting for few hours so you can make it for breakfast any day you want. As you all know south Indian cuisine is very famous for its idli and dosas and not just south India but these two dishes are very popular in entire India exclusively. All the required ingredients to make this healthy and delicious idli are very simple and commonly available in grocery shops and markets.

This idli goes really good when served with coconut chutney but you can also serve with any other chutney of your choice. Ingredients for Stuffed Idli:

2 Cup Idli Batter.
250 gm Boiled Potatoes.
50 gm Long Chopped Onions.
1 tbsp Garlic Chilli Paste.
2 tbsp Oil.
1 tsp Mustard Seeds or Rai Dana.
1 tsp Cumin Seeds.
1 tsp Split Black Gram or Udad Dal.
5-6 Curry Leaves.
Salt as per taste.
¼ tsp Turmeric Powder.
1 Pouch of Eno.
Coconut Chutney for Serving.

How to Make Stuffed Idli:

Step 1.

First of all for making stuffing heat oil in a non stick kadai then put mustard seeds and cumin seeds in hot oil and let them crackle.

Step 2.

Now add in split black gram, garlic chilli paste, curry leaves and saute them well for little time, now add in onions and cook till it become light golden brown.

Step 3.

Now add in salt, turmeric powder and saute for little time, now add in boiled potatoes and mix well with all the spices and turn the heat off, make small patties or balls from this stuffing and keep aside.

Step 4.

Now grease the idli stand or mould, now put salt as per taste and eno in idli batter and mix well, when you add eno to batter it will doubled.

Step 5.

Now put about 1 tbsp batter in idli mould then put one potato stuffing ball or patties then again put 1 tbsp batter on patties so it can be nicely covered.

Step 6.

Now put the idli stand in steamer and cook it for 10-12 minutes, after 10-12 minutes turn the heat off and take out idli stand from steamer and let it cool for 5 minutes.

Step 7.

After 5 minutes un-mould the stuffed idli from stand using a knife or spoon and serve hot with coconut chutney and enjoy.
