Vanela Gathiya is available almost everywhere in state of Gujarat. When I visited Mumbai I found out some Gujarati Gathiya shops in Jogeshwary west neat Patel Samaj. You can find best Gathiya shops and carts thougout Gujarat state. It is served with the Raw Papaya Chutney, Sweet Papaya Chutney, Green Chutney and Fried Green Chilies. It is a very famous Gujarati Street Food Recipe.

1/2  kg of  gram flour or Besan or Chickpeas flour.
Salt to taste
1 tbsp of Ajwain.
1 tbsp crushed black peppers.
4 tbsp Oil
1 tsp of  Soda Bicarbonate (Gathiya Na Soda).
Water.
Oil for frying.

STEP 1.

First of all add Gram Flour or besan in a big mixing bowl, now in this add black pepper, ajwain and salt according to taste and around 2 tbsp of oil.

STEP 2.

Mix all the ingredients very well then add water as per the requirement ( Don’t add water at once ) and bind and make rubber like stretchable dough.

STEP 3.

After making dough knead it with more 1 tbsp oil until your dought don’t break, now the dough is ready.

STEP 4.

STEP 5.

Heat oil.

In medium hot oil fry your gathiya ( Make sure that your oil should not be very hot ). Cook it for few minutes at a very low heat, now it is ready so take it out.
