Vermicelli Upma Recipe | Indian Breakfast Recipe | Upma Recipe.

Vermicelli upma or sevai upma is one of the very common breakfast recipe cooked in almost every south Indian households. Usually upma are prepared using rava or semolina, poha, oats, sabudana etc but here we have used vermicelli. For making upma two major methods are available one is with vegetables and other one without vegetables. Here we have made using first one and added onions, tomatoes, capsicum and carrots along with some other spices and ingredients.

This quick vermicelli upma is really very simple and easy to make plus requires very less time to cook is well. Taste of this semiya upma is really very tempting and delicious, and with being delicious this upma is also very healthy and nutritious too. Not just in morning breakfast but you can also prepare this for lunch or dinner or at evening time is well just because it is light food recipe.

South Indian cuisine is very famous across the world for its idli, dosa, upma and some other dishes. And almost every south Indian dish is healthy and good for health so you can make it for your kids and family without any hesitation. Along with this you may also like some other south Indian recipes like sambar upma, vegetable upma, adai dosa, moong dal cheela, rava idli, bisi bele bath, instant rava appam etc……..

Ingredients for Vermicelli Upma:

50 gm Sooji Vermicelli.
3 tbsp Chopped Onions.
3 tbsp Chopped Tomatoes.
2 tbsp Chopped Capsicum.
2 tbsp Chopped Carrots.
1 tsp Mustard Seeds.
1 tsp Split Black Gram or Urad Dal.
2 tbsp Ground Nuts.
3-4 Chopped Green Chillies.
7-8 Curry Leaves.
Salt as per taste.
3 tbsp Oil.
Some Coriander Leaves for Garnishing.

How to Make Vermicelli Upma:

Step 1.

First of all heat about 1 tbsp oil in a non stick pan then add in vermicelli and roast it for 2-3 minutes at medium flame, make sure that it don’t change colour so stir every not and then, take out the vermicelli in a bowl and keep aside.

Step 2.

Now put about 2 tbsp oil in pan and roast the ground nuts for few minutes then take out in a bowl, now add mustard seeds and urad dal and wait till they start crackle.

Step 3.

Now add in green chillies and curry leaves and saute for little time then add in carrots and saute for little time.

Step 4.

Now add in onions, tomatoes, capsicum and roast all these veggies for little time, now add in salt, roasted vermicelli, some water and cover and cook till vermicelli get cooked nicely, stir in between after every minute so upma don’t get burnt.

Step 5.

When vermicelli get cooked nicely add in fried ground nuts and take out the delicious vermicelli upma in a serving plate and garnish with some coriander leaves.
