  • 2 Cup Idli Batter.
  • 1/8 tsp Cooking Soda.
  • 1-2 tsp Fruit Salt or Eno.
  • Green Chutney as per required.
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds.
  • 1 tsp Sesame Seeds.
  • 1 tbsp Oil.
  • Salt according to taste.
  • Some Coriander Leaves for Garnishing.


  • First of all add salt in idli batter as per your taste and mix it well, now put a greased tray in steamer then add fruit salt in batter and quickly add batter to greased tray.
  • Now cover the steamer and cook batter for 10-12 minutes, while adding batter in tray make sure that add batter that it cover ½ inch of tray, do this in two batches so dhokla can be made in two layers.
  • After 10-12 minutes take out dhokla in a plate, now apply green chutney to the rough surface of both batch dhokla so that chutney will cover entire dhokla and gives good taste, now stick both the batches together nicely.
  • Now cut the dhokla in small size square shapes and put aside, now heat oil in a tadka pan, when oil gets hot add in mustard seeds, sesame seeds and wait till both crackle.
  • When they starts crackling then put this tadka onto the dhokla and serve the instant sandwich dhokla with sweet chutney and enjoy.
