Bisi Bele Bath Recipe

  • ½ Cup Cooked Pigeon Peas Lentil.
  • 1 Cup Boiled Rice.
  • 2 tbsp Finely Chopped Cabbage.
  • 2 tbsp Finely Chopped Potatoes.
  • 2 tbsp Finely Chopped Carrots.
  • 2 tbsp Finely Chopped Onions.
  • 2 tbsp Finely Chopped Tomatoes.
  • 2 tbsp Finely Chopped Capsicum.
  • Lemon Juice of Half Lemon.
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder.
  • 1 tbsp Sambar Masala or Special Bisi Bele Bath Masala.
  • 2 tsp Cashew Nuts.
  • ½ tsp Red Chilli Powder.
  • Salt According to Taste.
  • 2-3 tbsp Oil.
  • For Tadka:
  • 2 tbsp Ghee or Clarified Butter.
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds.
  • 1 tsp Split Black Gram Lentils.
  • 7-8 Curry Leaves.
  • 7-8 Cashew Nuts.
  • 2 Dry Red Chillies.


  • First of all heat oil in a non stick pan, when oil gets heated add in potatoes and cook till become soft then add carrots and cook it till become soft.
  • Now add in cashew nuts, cabbage, capsicum and onions, cook all the veggies till become little soft.
  • Now add in red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and mix well then add little water, sambar masala and cook it till it starts boiling.
  • Now add in boiled rice, cooked lentils and tomatoes, lemon juice, cover and cook it for few minutes, when water is reduced or evaporated and bath become pouring consistency turn the heat off and take out in serving plate.
  • Now for tadka heat ghee in tadka pan then add mustard seeds and let it crackle, now add black gram lentils and cook it till become little pink in colour.
  • Now add dry red chillies, cashew nuts, curry leaves and put tadka on bisi bele bath and serve it hot and enjoy.
