Shakarkandi ka Halwa | Sweet Potato Pudding Recipe

  • 3 Boiled and Peeled Sweet Potatoes.
  • ½ Cup Milk.
  • ¼ Cup Powdered Sugar.
  • Pinch of Cardamom Powder.
  • 6-7 Threads of Saffron.
  • 2 tbsp Ghee or Clarified Butter.
  • 7-8 Cashews for Garnishing.
  • 7-8 Chopped Almonds for Garnishing.


  • First of all put the gas on and heat a nonstick pan, now cut the sweet potatoes in small pieces, put ghee in pan and let it melt.
  • Now put the chopped sweet potatoes in little hot ghee then mash it with masher or spoon, add saffron threads and roast the sweet potatoes for few minutes at medium flame (it will take around 8-10 minutes).
  • Now add milk and stir continuously till milk get reduced (it will take around 4-5 minutes), now add powdered sugar and cardamom powder and mix well and cook it for further 2-3 minutes.
  • After 2-3 minutes turn the heat off take out the halwa in a serving plate and garnish with chopped almonds and cashew nuts and enjoy.
