First of all heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, when oil gets heated add finely chopped onion, stir and saute it on a medium flame till the onions start to turn transparent.
Now add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw aroma of ginger garlic goes then add chopped tomatoes, saute till they soften and become pulpy.
Now add turmeric powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder, stir and mix well.
Now add chopped coriander leaves, soaked masoor dal and season with salt, stir well, cook the usal on a low flame with a lid for 5-6 minutes. (If you feel dal not soaked well add less water and cook till all the water evaporates).
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve akkha masoor hot with some soft chapattis or jovar rotis or steamed rice and enjoy.
