Sooji ka Halwa Recipe | Rawa Halwa Recipe

  • ½ Cup Sooji or Semolina.
  • ½ Cup Sugar.
  • 1/3 Cup Pure Ghee.
  • 10-12 Raisins.
  • 2 tsp Almond Powder.
  • ¼ tsp Cardamom Powder.
  • 6-7 Strands of Saffron.
  • 1.5 Cup Water or 2 cup depending on how much water sooji takes.
  • 5-7 Grated Almonds For Garnishing.


  • First of all put 2 cups of water for boiling, in a different pan add ghee and put on gas.
  • Add sooji in ghee and roast it till become golden brown.
  • Once water starts boiling, take out ½ cup and keep separately, add sugar in remaining water and heat till sugar melts.
  • Switch off the gas (of water) once sugar melts, do not stir it in between so sugar does not stick to bottom.
  • Now add saffron in sooji once it is roasted (it takes about 5-7 minutes).
  • Switch off the gas and add water very slowly (it will jump out), after adding water switch on the gas again.
  • Now add almond powder, raisins, cardamom powder and mix it well.
  • Now cover it and cook it for one and a half minutes then add remaining half cup water ONLY if required.
  • Switch off the gas and leave for 2 minutes then uncover and switch on the gas for 15-20 seconds keep stirring till it has a glow/ radiance.
  • Switch off gas and take it out in a serving plate, garnish it with grated almonds and serve.
