Heat around 2 tbsp of Oil, when it get's heated add Mustard seeds, when it starts Popping add Cumin Seeds, Pinch of Asafoetida ( Hing ), Curry Leaves and immediately put Onions.
Now add Green Chillies, Turmeric Powder, now in this add Red Chili Powder, Salt and Sugar, stir all the things very well.
Now in this add the Tomatoes, Garlic and Ginger Paste, add the Garam Masala, now add Dal.
after 1 minute it is almost ready so add Finely chopped Coriander Leaves and turn the heat off. Garnish it with simple Coriander Leaves.
