  • 100 Grams Rice Chaval or Bhat.
  • 1 Chopped Potato.
  • 50 Grams Raisins.
  • 50 Grams Green Peas.
  • 2 Medium size finely chopped onions.
  • 1 Chopped Tomato.
  • 2 Chopped Green Chillies.
  • 1 tsp Ginger Paste.
  • 10 Curry Leaves.
  • 3 tbsp Oil.
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder.
  • 1 each Star Anies Bay Leave and Cinnamon Stick(small).
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Pepper Powder.
  • 1 Mustard Seeds.
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds.
  • 1 tsp Coriander & Cumin Seeds Powder.
  • 2 tsp sugar.
  • Lemon Juice of 1 Lemon.
  • Some Fresh Coriander Leaves.
  • Salt to Taste.


  • How to Cook or Cooking Methods?
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • In to the hot Oil add Star Anies, Bay Leave and Cinnamon Stick.
  • Than add the Mustard Seeds and Cumin Seeds.
  • When Mustard Seeds started slatering add the Green Chillies and Curry Leaves.
  • Mix all the Spice very well.
  • Stir Fry the onions until they become golden brown.
  • Than add the Potatoes, Turmeric Powder and Salt.
  • Again mix this very well.
  • Now add Ginger Paste.
  • Add the Red Chilli Pepper Powder, Sugar and mix this well.
  • Now add Green Peas and around 4 Glass of Water.
  • Now cover it for 2 minutes.
  • Than add the Rice.
  • Mix all the ingredients very well.
  • Again cover it for few minutes.
  • When Rice is half cooked add the Raisins.
  • Again Cover it for Few Minutes.
  • When your rice is almost cooked add the Tomatoes and Cover it for a minute.
  • Now add the Lemon Juice.
  • Cook it just for a minute.
  • Than add some freshly chopped coriander leaves and garnish it in your own style or as garnished in the above photo of Soupy Indian Rice Recipe.
  • Serve this Delicious looking Authentic Indian Gujarati Rice very hot.


Add more water if you want to make it soupy.
Add water according to the requirement.
Always serve it very hot.
Soak rice to save the time.
Always use the Basmati Rice.
